In a world that’s gone green, why are we still using disposable sanitary items? This is the question that leads protagonist Kitty to seek out reusable feminine hygiene products in the 9 page booklet Green Blooded: An Introduction to Eco-Friendly Feminine Hygiene by writer and cartoonist Cathy Leamy.

In Green Blooded: An Introduction to Eco-Friendly Feminine Hygiene our star, Kitty, tells us about the affects of disposable hygiene products on the environment, waste, cost, and the possible impact on our health. She takes us on a cartoon adventure with a comedic flair that is on a real and serious journey to find answers. Kitty is direct, and to the point tells us about the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ of reusable and disposable hygiene products, as well as the ‘good’ and the ‘bad’ of each: cloth pads, disposable pads, sponges, and cups. She also talks about the menstrual cycle, alternatives for those using disposables, and includes a list of resources.

Green Blooded: An Introduction to Eco-Friendly Feminine Hygiene is thought provoking, and informative. It is a quick read, easy for anyone at any age to understand, uses illustrations to show use and care of each product, includes suggestions for those still using disposables, and includes a mini list of resources which contain more info on woman’s health and further guidance for reusable care products.
